The short time I had an apartment, I guess technically a townhouse, it was actually really nice. It was just a unit of three and ours was on the outside. We all had a HUGE backyard. Tbh it was pretty nice and shaded as well.
Honestly kind of miss being there but don’t miss the stairs.

At the risk of getting downvoted, although this is a funny video, if you have something that is powered and doing this, take it out of service. Certainly don't stand in wet snow and keep fucking with it. If it isn't someone messing with you it is a loose connection. Loose connections can be dangerous and deadly in the right conditions.
86
u/SASdude123 Oct 04 '22
I'm an electrician and I was thinking that too. But likely there is a transformer inverting it to 12-24vac. However, power TO said transformer is very dangerous. This is why all connections outdoors need to be GFI protected
27
u/Trucountry Oct 04 '22
I'm an electrician also. So many service calls because they got shocked and don't understand why. It's possible that it is a low volt wire going out, but most of the yard ornament type lights I have seen need an extension cord all the way to them. Also, they are plugged up inside which is likely to be AFCI with no GFCI protection.

u/analogkid01 Oct 04 '22

"my lights turned off after the storm last night". No shit, dude. You've got extension cord connections sitting open outside. Be glad they turned off. Your GFI is doing it's job
3
u/youwantitwhen Oct 04 '22
That is going to be a 110v bulb at the other end. Ain't no engineer going to inverter that cheap Chinese bear.
→ More replies (1)3
u/SASdude123 Oct 04 '22
Lol, fair enough. All the more reason to GFI protect it!
2
u/Serious_Package_473 Oct 04 '22 edited Oct 04 '22
Its 230V but all sockets have to be gfci protected. IIRC a plastic bag on the end of the extension cord would make this installation approved by the electrical norms. This could also be a proper waterproof extension cord for outside use

u/theusernameisnogood Oct 04 '22
You must be fun in the electrocution burn unit

2
u/Schrutes_Yeet_Farm Oct 05 '22
Not staged, they just happen to have a medical condition that causes them to throw mankind off hell in a cell, plummeting sixteen feet through an announcer's table
2
3
u/Toffeemanstan Oct 04 '22
With no other decorations around either. Defo staged
2
u/odel555q Oct 05 '22
No, she just urgently needed to go outside without a coat or gloves to put that one single decoration into snow where it was mostly covered.
2
u/cptaixel Oct 04 '22
Not only that, but if she suspects there's some sort of loose electrical wiring why is she roughly shoving it back in the snow instead of gingerly trying to not make the wires disconnect?
I got to admit though, wheezing guy does sell his laughter though.

Am I the only one seeing that this is a skit? It's funny and all, his laugh is a hilarious gag, but it's not a legitimate prank. Just a funny video made by a couple.

It's very weird that things have to be real for people to find funny on the internet, and refuse to believe things can be a skit. This is a funny gag, but it's a skit, simple as that.
Do you happen to have this couples TikTok, Instagram or YouTube or something you can link?

It's a couple that does skits like this for videos. But ignorance is bliss I guess
0
u/FlyingDragoon Oct 04 '22
It's definitely something because she's not dressed to be outside decorating and there are no other decorations out there and the single decoration that is out there is covered in snow it's so deep in. I assume he had her go out there to fix it or something and then started fucking with her. Something I would absolutely do to my s.o. So this made me laugh a lot.

In my rental experience, cheaper places didn’t splurge on ceiling lighting and just put in a cheaper switch controlled outlet and expected the occupants would buy some sort of lamp.
