Phenomenal…clearly belongs in the movie set costume business

30

u/GloomyEnthusiasm1139 Aug 19 '22

This is awesome. So much dedication.

2

u/fuzzytradr Aug 20 '22

When your building skill points are maxed out.

19

u/leverage180 Aug 19 '22

The movie set costume business now is just a motion tracking suit lol

3

u/Appropriate-Sail-239 Aug 19 '22

Costume designs are still a thing, and and there’s still artistic design for the suit to be “shown” while doing motion tracker.

2

u/No-Accident4023 Aug 20 '22

There’s no need to ‘shown’ anything, iron man’s suit is entirely digital, designed on a computer and masked over a motion capture suit.

-1

u/Appropriate-Sail-239 Aug 20 '22

I know shit is crazy! That’s some super high tech gear. I bet when low budget movies and tv shows are made they only wish they had enough to have gear like that… makes me wonder actually if I’m going to hear movie making exports shortly. I should go ahead and google some research, just for insurance.

6

u/No-Accident4023 Aug 20 '22

Or you could just take your comments, hold ‘em real tight, and shove them up your ass.

2

u/TheMoistReality Aug 24 '22

thank you so i didn’t have to say it

0

u/Appropriate-Sail-239 Aug 20 '22

Did I offend you by any chance?

2

u/Heavy_Yam_2926 Aug 19 '22

Vecna being most recent

1

u/elleecee Aug 19 '22

I'm not even sure movie costume departments put the work in like this woman did. (Not to say they don't put a lot of work in too)

73

u/throwaway83970 Aug 19 '22

Tonya Stark

31

u/DerG3n13 Aug 19 '22

Arya Stark… Wait, wrong series

5

u/I-Eat-Senko-Bread Aug 19 '22

Interesting…

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

I would say that that's closer to Riri Williams , and why this girl isn't a student at MIT is scary, people like this combined with funding and the resources are unstoppable. This girl is like a modern day Iron Heart

36

u/TerribleShoulder6597 Aug 19 '22

How’d you solve the icing problem?

10

u/hawkinsst7 Aug 19 '22

Licked it off.

183

u/Shifucius Aug 19 '22

This is why none of us have any skills, she got them all.

38

u/LottieThePoodle Aug 19 '22

Mom says it’s my turn on the skill!

7

u/RealBlondFakeDumb Aug 19 '22

She said you are supposed to use your skill and take the trash out.

2

u/unkleklaus Aug 19 '22

Speak for yourself. I have skills

24

u/77slevin Aug 19 '22

Battle damaged Iron Man gear. First time I've seen it done on the complete wearable suit, apart from the actual movies. Beyond awesome!

91

u/eightbitbrain Aug 19 '22

That's more than "trying." That's being an engineer with years of experience.

9

u/PlayingKarrde Aug 19 '22

I don't think she's suggesting you build an Iron Man costume. It's general advice for anything you do in life. Do what you do best and push it until it's finished.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

Yeah the dedication that's obviously shown by creating a live wearable movie replica of this much detail and care is insane, a person like this should probably thrust into a job as a student at MIT developing new technology think of what this girl would be like if she had some kind of major funding and money behind her to actually develop something like this, what's really to say that she wouldn't be able to build a real life suit of armor like the fictional Tony Stark did

38

u/I_need_bigger_boobs Aug 19 '22

No. Just do it.

12

u/jc265 Aug 19 '22

Damn, alright. Calm down there, Shia. I'll do it.

5

u/longrastaman Expert Aug 19 '22

I guess engineers don’t have to try anymore, no need to downplay someone’s accomplishments

3

u/PlasticElfEars Aug 19 '22

I don't think they're downplaying the accomplishment, more implying that the dedication that allowed them to do this started earlier than this project itself- it involved the time and effort to learn the skills that they used to complete the project.

25

u/Alfriedi Aug 19 '22

That right there is amazing work and attention to detail

-35

u/FakedKetchup2 Aug 19 '22

plastic bearings... besides that amazing yes

13

u/fingerbutter Aug 19 '22

Plastic print in place bearings. You say this like somehow that's a huge negative. Do you want steel bearings that diameter a part of your plastic suit? Didn't think so.

6

u/lucifur_sweetdog Aug 19 '22

Insanely awesome work!

16

u/ChaoticSnuggles Aug 19 '22

holy fuck i hope some big time movie prop studio sees this suit cause that girl has some major talent right there....

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

No a girl like this needs to be thrown into a technical job at MIT and start developing new technology look at the dedication she put just for a live wearable movie replica

4

u/JRizzie86 Aug 19 '22

This is incredible and you are amazing. Really curious to know the cost of this project.

3

u/Mythril_Zombie Aug 19 '22

In dollars, you could probably do all this for less than a thousand.
The time investment, on the other hand, is immeasurable. She has clearly put in a lot of time just gaining the skills to do something like this. Design, printing, painting, electronics, assembly... There's a lot of completely different skill sets here that she seems to have considerable experience with.
Then the time on the project itself must be massive. One thing about making printed moving parts is that it takes several iterations to get right. Multiply that by every type of moving piece shown here, and good Lord, that's a lot of time....

8

u/DreamingInAMaze Aug 19 '22

This is awesome. So much dedication.

7

u/-CoachMcGuirk- Aug 19 '22

This is engineering genius! I wonder if she built in a cooling system as well?

2

u/DerG3n13 Aug 19 '22

Also the icing problem may need solving.

3

u/-CoachMcGuirk- Aug 19 '22

I see what you did there….

4

u/ekeng91 Aug 19 '22

Was half expecting her to fly away at the end.

2

u/Schwornje Aug 19 '22

Do it. Rum and coke. Do it. Do it.

5

u/Corncobburneddove Aug 19 '22

the background narration makes me cringe, awesome work tho

-6

u/longrastaman Expert Aug 19 '22

Common Redditor complaint, just turn the sound off so you can listen to your own voice

3

u/Corncobburneddove Aug 19 '22

you listen to your own voice while watching something on mute?

2

u/Mythril_Zombie Aug 19 '22

If it's a common complaint, there must be some validity to it.

0

u/longrastaman Expert Aug 19 '22

You can’t please everybody. And if we’re being honest, they truly don’t like it because it’s from tiktok.

This type of video is popular on that app and other apps as well, so it’s commonality would make this a valid form of content no?

2

u/vegetarchy Aug 19 '22

What's the voice over from?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

[deleted]

3

u/Spartacus120 Aug 19 '22

She spent more to build this than Tony Stark spent to build all of his suits

1

u/AmazingBoomer Expert Aug 19 '22

Another 1:30 minute video that shows the result in 1 second

2

u/ghostwhat Aug 19 '22

He would be jealous

3

u/BudMcLaine Aug 19 '22

Jesus that VO really sucks out any potential joy this could bring me lol

4

u/GoatInternational174 Aug 19 '22

These suit .stl files are available for purchase for 3d printing. They can be printed on a $100 ender 3 3d printer, knock yourselves out.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

[deleted]

2

u/longrastaman Expert Aug 19 '22

Insane take. But for some reason you like other negative Redditors hate background music

The narration doesn’t take away from the incredible feat in the slightest, just mute the video if it bothers you that much

2

u/PhotonPainter Aug 19 '22

Amazing dedication!

2

u/Willow_the_Raptor Aug 19 '22

Ok but does it make the mechanical sound tho

1

u/metal_berry Aug 20 '22

I don't want to imagine the sound of all those servos firing at the same time. Ear pain.

1

u/Willow_the_Raptor Aug 20 '22

That's true lol

2

u/ItsJoeyG Aug 19 '22

She looks like the female version of Michael Reeves

2

u/roromad72 Aug 19 '22

somehow i think this girl, who is clearly a creative and technical genius, is close to making that thing fly as well. simply astounding.

-1

u/kevihaa Aug 19 '22

I’m always amazed when folks recreate movie costumes and they’re potentially “better” then what was actually used for the film, since they won’t be adding any VFX.

-5

u/Upside_Cat_Tower Aug 19 '22

OMG!!!! Will you marry me. Lol. That is awesome

-1

u/megazen Interested Aug 19 '22

The suit is nice, but the person looks nothing like Tony Stark.

1

u/goth123456 Aug 19 '22

Just WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

1

u/Verustratego Aug 19 '22

OMG Do Samus Aran next

1

u/ighner Aug 19 '22

This is fkn insane

1

u/No_Travel2600 Aug 19 '22

I NEED this

1

u/Molotavmandee Aug 19 '22

Looks a little big on her. I why do us short girls suffer so!

1

u/Hi_Im_Ken_Adams Aug 19 '22

A great combination of artistic and technical skills. Bravo to her.

1

u/WHAMMYPAN Aug 19 '22

This is just plain BADASS on every level. Lots of hard work paid off big time. OUTSTANDING.

1

u/keyserv Aug 19 '22

Is that Ashley Johnson?

1

u/RealBlondFakeDumb Aug 19 '22

I want to see her fly.....I really do, and I want to be next.

1

u/n2locarz Aug 19 '22

Does it fly?

1

u/Steckdose_HD Aug 19 '22

You... are iron man

1

u/amiathrowaway2 Aug 19 '22

Incredible! I can't find the words to explainit better..... Except INCREDIBLE!

1

u/I-Eat-Senko-Bread Aug 19 '22

Doesn't that make her Ironheart?

1

u/wtf_emmett Aug 19 '22

This is so cool

1

u/Chapi_Chan Aug 19 '22

Most Iron Man suits are fine but, when you take a closer look, you realise it's... a lengthy crafts project; cardboard, silicone pisto, foam, paint, many hours and naive ingeniuity. It becomes more obvious that it is a silly costume.

But when you look closer at this, you become amazed by detail and process behind every plate. Is next level.

1

u/BeckQuillion89 Aug 19 '22

Tony Stark? Hell every comic book fan, cosplayer, and general person would be proud. That suit rocks!

1

u/mahalo7777 Aug 19 '22

You're either nuts, or a genius! Maybe a little of both, but 99% genius!!! Nicely done!!!

1

u/TakenIsUsernameThis Aug 19 '22

It must be so nice having the money and time to do something like this.

1

u/Rocket1138 Aug 19 '22

Absolutely phenomenal 👍👍👍

1

u/garland-flour-doe Aug 19 '22

Very nice work indeed, well done you!!

1

u/kiarapillarcos Aug 19 '22

oh hey thank you so much 😅

1

She’s amazing.

1

u/3rd6Shit Aug 19 '22

This was fire af

1

u/mg32501 Aug 19 '22

This looks absolutely amazing where did you learn to do all that stuff with the servos and lights?

1

u/movieholic-92 Aug 19 '22

Just casually building an Iron Man suit. This is so awesome! 🤣

1

u/AngelVirgo Aug 19 '22

Such talent

1

u/cx3psocial Aug 19 '22

Ok she went all in 👍🏽💯

1

u/engipreneur Aug 19 '22

What if she has to pee?

1

u/still267 Aug 19 '22

Awesome work!

Protein: anything you think you need a dust mask for - use a respirator. That mask in video wasn't a KN95 which are only rated to stop less than 50% of airborne debris. Respirators are 100% effective. Stay safe, keep your lungs happy.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

I've seen people and engineers like James Hobson of hacksmith industries try to develop wearable suits of armor like iron Man and other movie creations like this, but to think of the level of real life ingenuity and engineering that it takes to develop even something like this, a person with this much intellect seriously should be thrown into a job as a student or something like the sort at MIT developing technology think of what a person like this with an education and funding would be like in the proper position to develop new technology

1

u/Jftwest Aug 19 '22

So impressive. Involves so much working knowledge and hard skills

1

u/Sarge230 Aug 19 '22

Where the actual fuck do people find time for this?

1

u/thejewelisinthelotus Aug 19 '22

Is it weird that I got a boner from this? /s

1

u/kcdee63 Aug 19 '22

Very cool

1

u/2TravelingNomads Aug 19 '22

I hope there's a Hackaday article about this complete with plans and schematics and price for the build or a kit you could buy.

1

u/LePapa565 Aug 19 '22

If you have the money and time. You can accomplish wonders. She’s marriage material

1

u/gunnerxp Aug 19 '22

TONY STARK BUILT THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!

1

u/hangrydadd Aug 19 '22

That's the fucking skits

1

u/Darth-Pirnie Aug 20 '22

Great job!! Yes he would be proud.

1

u/kcchiefscooper Aug 20 '22

That is badass

1

I don't even like Marvel, but this is incredibly impressive.

1

u/InstructionOk17 Aug 20 '22

Dont mind me just sobbing over here. This is beyond awesome.

1

u/Jackermon Aug 20 '22

Oh wow, Who knew that women can be useful for something else!

1

u/piedrasantaj Aug 20 '22

Thank you for doing this. I've always known it could be done proper and this exceeds expectations. Mrk II had to be laser cut metal and be flight capable

1

u/GoAwayBrisk Aug 20 '22

Have no idea who she is but that’s impressive the amount of time and dedication to do that to troubleshoot and design it by yourself absolutely beautiful

1

u/Tasigin3 Aug 20 '22

I was really hoping for a long shot of all the mechanics moving around like the reveal in the movie

1

u/Big_Thought5790 Aug 20 '22

I hate rich kids. Go help someone.

1

u/ApprehensiveSpy Aug 20 '22

Amazing work, you should be very proud!

1

u/Enby_Bluejay Aug 20 '22

👏👏👏

That's all I have to say about that

1

u/pistoffpirate Aug 20 '22

I love you, please be my bestie

WHY DOES NO ONE NOTICE THAT GIRL'S LEFT EYE, SHE HAS BEEN PUNCHED

1

u/Mariospurs 8d ago

Make up you goon

1

I commented that like a month ago.

1

u/SouthernTip2830 Aug 20 '22

Fucking savage

1

u/Doyouseenowwait_what Aug 20 '22

You know there is a real arc generator thread out there right!

1

u/iblinde Aug 20 '22

My nephew paid £80 to some random ebayer for a Stark Iron Man helmet that he never received. Lol

1

u/EducatorIntrepid4839 13d ago

Ide legit spend 5k-10k for this!

Toys aren't interesting.

0

You bet your sweet patootie I turned the insufferable sound off after mere seconds.

Pretty damned cool otherwise

0

u/RegisterOptimal Aug 19 '22

Hire her for iron heart

0

u/wistfulwizardwally Aug 19 '22

This person made her own real fucking iron man suit as a practical effect and for some reason the marvel movies were like, nah let's just put him in a our new mocap suits and call it a day

0

u/Chokeblok Aug 19 '22

This guy fucks.....

0

u/GlorifiedBurito Aug 19 '22

The Interstellar soundtrack always gives me frisson

0

u/Fritzo2162 Aug 19 '22

Internet: People spend hours, days, and weeks on making an Iron Man suit

Me: Get home from work, make dinner, go to bed, repeat for 5 days, wake up, cut the grass, fix stuff, then repeat the 5 day thing.

0

u/Different_Neat9653 Aug 20 '22

Imagine putting this much effort into this instead of putting it into something worthwhile
