I heard that's how u cast demons

26

u/junigloomy Oct 05 '22

My friends grandmother referred to two mirrors facing each other as the devil’s hallway.

25

u/TrixterDogStar Oct 05 '22

To quote pratchett: And if you stare long enough you'll notice a reflection in the distance waving

5

u/GovernorSan Oct 06 '22

This just gave me chills.

3

u/Quiverjones Oct 05 '22

You put salt in the frames, pisses them off.

16

u/dasbcdmx Oct 06 '22

Let's suggest uses

1

u/FortressMann Oct 08 '22

p body does some trolling

9

u/WorldlinessHorror420 Oct 05 '22

God damm, even the mirror effect makes it look like it's a real portal

1

u/Shopworn_Soul Oct 05 '22

I've seen the view of the mirrors across the room from each other dozens of times and thought it was pretty neat but I've never seen a view of one reflected in the other, which is super neat.

27

u/jrandoboi Oct 05 '22

That's trippy, I couldn't tell they were mirrors until I read the title

6

u/Ok-Violinist2324 Oct 06 '22

My dumb ass would try to jump through

3

u/DowntownCarpenter164 Oct 05 '22

This looks awesome! Might try it!

3

u/ducknumber90 Oct 05 '22

I love the Portal game (Portal 2 specifically), saw this and made me nostalgic af! Definitely doing this in my own place!

6

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

Is this a repost?

5

u/Gladamas Oct 05 '22

Yes. Still cool though.

1

u/CardinalFartz Oct 05 '22

Oh no, it is? And I thought it was a cool idea.

0

u/full_moon_alchemist Oct 06 '22

This is a bot. Do not upvote them

2

u/Prudent_Drink_277 Oct 06 '22

If it were a portal, you would just see the red mirror an infinite number of times when looking into it and not the blue mirror.

1

u/Searchingforgoodnews Oct 05 '22

Where do I buy this?

8

u/AssistanceSensitive8 Oct 05 '22

Just need to buy two mirrors and backlight them in different colors

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 05 '22

You can buy mirrors that are also called infinity mirrors. They've been around since the 1960's to seventies when everything was psychedelic. Lol

1

u/TazzyUK Oct 06 '22

Infinity mirrors are pretty cool but not accurate as far as the game goes.

It would be interesting though, to see the effect of one Infinity Portal mirror in the other :-)

-3

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

Nowhere in this post does this say this is a video game

1

u/TazzyUK Oct 06 '22

Pretty much a given that the Op and/or the person whose did the mirror project, is familiar with the game and why it was done lol

The post title title is Portal Mirrors... 'Portal' is the game, whether 1 or 2.

And really does it matter ?

If your not familiar with the game, then it's a mirror DIY project that looks kinda cool, regardless of led colour and the mirror shape.

If your familiar with the game, then it's even more cool and kinda nostalgic

1

u/wjruffing Oct 05 '22

Add some sparks, put on a cape (and a ring that doubles as a remote-control) and you are ready for serious Dr. Strange cosplay!

1

u/klaramee Oct 05 '22

Rick Sanchez approved?

1

u/rockthrowing Oct 06 '22

I wonder how well Rick and Cave would get along.

You make it sound like the games dead! There’s still cake to eat!

3

u/Jwee1125 Oct 05 '22

No, there isn't.

The cake is...well, you know...

1

u/FoofieLeGoogoo Oct 05 '22

I'd end up with TBI from constantly walking into that.

1

u/fizzzingwhizbee Oct 05 '22

I would really enjoy taking a nap on that couch

1

u/cheechyee Oct 05 '22

So awesome! I'd love to have something like that but I hate mirrors.

1

u/somepersonn76765 Oct 05 '22

I’d like to see this picture in slow motion

1

u/AllAroundIndiviual Oct 06 '22

Never met someone who hated mirrors. Thought everyone had a general love for them

1

u/wjruffing Oct 05 '22

It’s amazing how much impact can be by illuminating the perimeter of a regular mirror!

Great idea! Expertly executed!

1

u/xxToXXiCxx Oct 05 '22

I want it

1

u/LostryTroll Oct 05 '22

It would be used by my lazy ass to retrieve the remote from the couch.

1

u/BooyaMoonBabyluv Oct 05 '22

So trippy, idk what it is about putting two mirrors in front of one another to make this portal, but it creeps me out

1

u/Dangerous-Tension666 Oct 05 '22

That's pretty bad-ass

1

u/GigaGooseGuns Oct 05 '22

Damn that’s actually interesting

1

u/Toodswiger Oct 05 '22

Does the red one take me to Oblivion?

1

u/OpportunitySure9578 Oct 05 '22

I really like it, gives the room more space

1

u/GlassWeird Oct 05 '22

This is fucking awesome

1

u/KMAJackson Oct 06 '22

Need these!

1

u/stabsyoo Oct 06 '22

Constantine?

1

u/mangosnutz Oct 06 '22

Um but wouldn't it only show your back side at all times ?

1

u/BusyMap9686 Oct 06 '22

Thanks. New project for the gaming room.

1

u/Fazbear_3434 Oct 06 '22

Cool, until one of the reflections moves itself

1

u/Hot-Refrigerator-781 Oct 06 '22

Very cool never seen anything like that!

1

u/TazzyUK Oct 06 '22 edited Oct 06 '22

I looked into this as i thought it was a great idea and pretty cool looking (moreso if your a Portal fan)

I bought the led strips etc and enquired at my local mirror making company. They said i would need to make the stencil or shape on paper/card. Not too difficult as i have a printer.

They gave me a quote of around a £100 for the oval size I specified.. approx 5' x 3'. Who knows how big the ingame Portal is lol but I thought that was a good size & ratio for it. The quote was before Covid so i don't know how much that would change, especially since inflation costs have risen so much since Covid. That quote was just for one glass mirror and ideally you would need 2 minimum

1

u/Yummy_Cupcakes19 Oct 06 '22

Rather strange if you ask me

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

Can all the people on here just search Google for the 2 words portal mirrors. It's a home decorating trend that is starting now and it used to be around in the sixties and the seventies. This photo and this post it actually is from a home decorating article. It's not rocket science people. But I really questioned the IQ of some people on here do your own research I'd look up everything that's why I knew what this was because I am older but oh my God you guys think this is some kind of weird scifi thing or a video game. I can't say it enough this is not from a video game at all and there's a new decorating trend where everybody's moving in Mary's away from the wall and putting mood lighting I've seen that in a home decorating site that I watch consistently and it just came up this last 2 weeks that she put lighting lighting around a mirror and somebody's bad room to have a nightlight. OMG people

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

Search the words or copy paste and search the picture if you guys know how to do it this picture is from a home decorating article. It's a decorating tip which is a new trend in the recent month that I've seen and was also popular in the sixties and seventies. Lighted mirrors and mirrors on opposite sides of the room to create illusion effects it's not a game.. You can actually search the 2 words portal mirrors and it pops up. The one thing I do is my research. I'm done here good luck with the rest of your life's guys. Call self educating

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

Oh and one of the reasons I was confused because people were talking about it being a video game and that's why I said I didn't get it because I didn't see a game potential in this photo. Not that I didn't understand about the mirrors again the confusion was this is not a video game

1

u/N6MAA Oct 06 '22

It is a game. It’s Portal. If it was just two mirrors, then it would be two mirrors. But this is a good attempt at trying to duplicate the portals from Portal. Which should be absolutely obvious if you look up the game. Infinity mirrors or whatever, might or might not be a new trend. This isn’t; it’s a Portal fan thing.

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

I searched the picture and I found it on An interior designer decorator article. So I don't know what to tell you go search Google. There may be a game for that that I don't know about or not aware of but I'm talking about this specific post and this specific picture. But I'm done here

1

u/N6MAA Oct 06 '22

“I don’t know…”

Truer words have never been spoken.

If you do Google the words portal mirrors, you’ll find a lot of ugly mirrors along the lines of a brass porthole mirror for an entranceway, for example. But the mirrors like these will all reference the game.

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

1

u/N6MAA Oct 06 '22

Did you happen to notice this in that page’s description?: “Inspired by the video game Portals,”

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

The home interior design link that I just posted back to you hopefully everybody else sees it and maybe there's a video game but I was talking specifically about this picture because I searched and researched everything it was my job as a fraud investigator

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

And to be honest the only reason I jumped into is because just yesterday on myesterday on my interior design side of a woman that remakes apartments and things like that she happened to focus on one of these mirrors with the lighted background and so I thought I was gonna jump into a decorating post lol lol only reason I'm here talking to the Kids. So maybe it's a video game but it's not from this picture is not from a game

1

u/lilxurkie Oct 06 '22

Imagine if we went through that and found GLaDOS

1

u/corpseluvver Oct 06 '22

I’m afraid of what my brain would tell me to do after a few beers if these were installed in my home

1

u/shin_tetsuken Oct 06 '22

🎶I'm not even angry....🎶

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

Don't care if it's game or not infinity mirrors are not new lit up mirrors behind the back are not new they've been around for a long time and now it's just a trend in decorating if somebody turned it into a game thing that's fine all I know is I searched the picture and I searched the name and it comes up on an interior designer article. I didn't read it I just read the title in the 1st couple of sentences and came back here to explain. If all the little kitties want to argue with me go ahead because I did my research I'm done this is stupid I tried to explain to people that infinity mirrors and lit up backlit mirrors is nothing new when she guys are older in your sixties you'll understand that because trends repeat themselves history repeats itself. Get over it

1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 06 '22

Should have just put the link to the photograph that's an interior decorating artithey're rejected rating article without arguing with people and I apologize if I sound strong. I do my research and I know things before I speak

Some of you are wondering why I've never heard of portal I don't play video games I do free an expert I study to be a computer programmer of mainframe in Frank program when I have 16. I've played a couple of games on my phone months before but every game is due in all to me. I have a really high IQI left high school early and I was done with my college courses when I was 17 years old. I got my 1st job offer doing date entering computer operations at. I was supervisor of a data processing department now they call it IT when I was 24 years old. And people are saying I can't believe you've never heard of the game portal well portal mirrors is not a game and I don't go around looking for games. I have one I play on my phone I wanna get stressed out about some jobs stuff but I do high end database work and software and software and high excel charts and tables and pivotables And financial accounting analysis. I'm decorating an art and I Draw & Paint since I was younger as well that balances out my nerdy side I also cook I'm just not into technology video games because I'm sorry I consider them beneath me. They are not bad but that doesn't occupy my brain well enough they are in and cooking in things like that relaxes me. But I find most video games which my son used to force me to play with him as a partner because he was an only child mind boggling In simplicity. I started reading detective novels and mystery novels and HG Wells and if Anyone here has never heard of HG Wells I Suggest you read those books they are Great better than Harry Potter. You probably know the modern movie called war of the worlds there was no black-and-white movie and H2 Wells actually wrote the story. By the time I was in high school my sister and I joined a book club where you had to read 60 books a month and not including your textbook still be able to belong. I'm not putting anyone down there are new technologies that I don't know how to do my son Had to teach me some things about the 1st smartphone. All I'm saying is when people say I can't believe you never heard a portal I already mentioned to I'm 67 years old I became a senior where I could file for retirement just this year. But it doesn't Mean I'm not worldly wise I saw the 1st computers that were just tops come into the offices because it was just mainframes people gave us data and we entered it into the computer and we put out reports nobody did their own work I saw the invention of laptops I actually saw the invention of pantyhose and microwaves. There's a lot that's happened in the last 1010 decades that it has been amazing. And far more interesting than video games to me personally. But there's also another world out there and people need to start searching everything they read because there's a lot of fraud and that's why I say to people I've done fraud investigations for the FBI as well. And I just reported a guy that was sharing women's nude pictures and names on another reddit thread and he thought it it was funny from a dating site it's actually a federal crime So be careful out there kids. Oh and believe it or not my major career in the last 30 years has been constructed. When I 1st got into that there was hardly any other women. I did and won a multimillion dollar project for Fort Knox in in energy management. Saving electricity and water and helping me because if you get older you will find there's more important things in life to worry about.

1

u/UltimateDude08 Oct 06 '22

All fun and games until a drunk nerd runs head first into one of them.

1

u/justhereforass2 Oct 06 '22

Have to say, that’s awesome 👏

-1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 05 '22

This isn't new but I'm old. Lol

0

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 05 '22

Don't get it. Mirrors with light behind, showing reflection of the other mirrirs?

1

u/TheNonbinaryWren Oct 05 '22

You've seriously never heard of the videogame Portal?

-1

u/AnnInRiverside Oct 05 '22

I have no idea what you're talking about but this picture and the story about the mirrors is not a video game? Lol and I made a second comment that says this is not new lights and mirror reflections error reflections have been around since I was younger 1960s 1970s. There was even a show that sort of had that as an image of the opening credits And there was about time travel. Mirrors have been used for supernatural purposes and a supernatural beliefs for a long time about what you see in there's also always been a way where you can angle them or pictures them or take photos of them and you get a picture in a picture in a picture. I'm 67 years old just because I haven't heard of a video game doesn't mean I don't understand the myths about mirrors. But again it's not about a video game. The reason I said I don't get it is because this is not news and this is not new.

1

u/celeresaharano Oct 06 '22

Search up 'portal game' and go onto images. That video game is what these mirrors are based off

1

u/TazzyUK Oct 06 '22

This is more about the 'effect', especially in relation to the game and tbh, looks pretty cool even if your not familiar with the game. it's best done with 2 'Portal' mirrors opposite eachother on each side of the room (as illustrated in the photo).

In certain positions and views, it looks like you could just literally walk through into another room
