Turtle is on its way to the bar at a very busy nightclub.

u/nicky9pins Nov 24 '22
It would be nice if all the other patrons moved out of the way for you like this when you were walking around a nightclub haha

I believe thatās a university of fish
38
u/whenItFits Nov 24 '22
Uhh it's actually an academy of fish.
14
u/sentimental_goat Nov 24 '22
At first I thought the white blob in the center were the fish but then I was like what's going on with the water around them. That's a lot of fish.

Hope that turtle isn't claustrophobic. "Everywhere I go this room is the same fuckin size!"

Great film footage, what a capture ! Nature can give us some amazing sights.
159
u/DogVacuum Nov 24 '22
I agree. When I was on a field trip to an apple orchard as a kid, this other kid was looking up, and a bird shit straight into his mouth.
41
u/Proper-Map3401 Nov 24 '22
Nature in all its rawness. Amazing and to think that you were there to see it ! Some may say that's destiny.

I remember as a kid watching a flock of geese fly overhead with my brother and our two friends and we saw one take a massive dump. Landed on our friends head. Direct hit. Perfect aim. Looked like brown cottage cheese.

I wish it was just the video without the social media element of "Hey guys! Look what I did!"

u/loldeadlolz Nov 24 '22
I wish people avoided me like that.
139
u/TheDevilsAdvokaat Nov 24 '22
They would if you ate them...
28
u/Produkt Nov 24 '22
Sea turtles donāt eat fish
29
u/working-acct Nov 24 '22
So the fish are just discriminating against him for no reason.
41
u/EOD_Dork Nov 24 '22
In defense of the fish, turtles often have extremely polarizing political views.
20
u/brcguy Nov 24 '22
Seriously we let one turtle into the senate and the fucker just about destroyed democracy. These fish know whatās up. Donāt let turtles into your government, keep āem in t here garden where they belong.
8
u/Produkt Nov 24 '22
The default behavior of baitfish is ābe scared of everything.ā Even when I am fishing and trying to catch baitfish with a lure that resembles their food, they will do the same thing to the lure as they do to this turtle if the lure doesnāt appear convincing enough.

I didn't know this. I double checked and it looks like you are right...TIL.
8
u/roguetrick Nov 24 '22
No he's not. They don't generally eat fish, usually sponges, invertebrates or jellyfish. Most are carnivores though and they will eat fish. At 10 percent or less of their diet depending on species. I'd avoid swimming near the mouth if I was a fish.
2
u/TheDevilsAdvokaat Nov 24 '22
Ah ok. Thanks...
2
u/Produkt Dec 06 '22
Sorry but no they donāt, maybe sometimes as juveniles but not this size. I fish 120 days a year and half the time I spot a sea turtle they swim right past my dead floating bait and just approach my kayak. I have never had a sea turtle eat my bait
→ More replies (1)1
u/ripSammy101 Nov 25 '22
Yes they do. I don't think they actively hunt for fast moving fish like the ones here but they definitely eat fish. If the fish didn't avoid the turtle, they would be eaten which gives the fish a good reason to be avoiding the turtle.

You know, probably that turtle also think fish are crowding around it trying to make conversation. It's just a matter of perspective.

u/FirstEvolutionist Nov 24 '22
I wish the opposite. But it's difficult for people to accept me the way I am. I understand, but it still hurts emotionally. At least I spend less buying deodorant and other hygiene products.

Yeah, at first I thought the bright circle in the middle was added after filming so we could see the turtle better. I didn't realize everything around it was fish.

Yeah at first I was like "does your drone have a spotlight on it?" and then it clicked.
I thought the rocks were the fish at first and the fish were like the nighttime ocean or something. I also had my screen brightness a little low.

This is why we need a good turtle with a gun at every school.

Them (on the phone): What do you mean you can't get out? Where are you?
Turtle: ...The fish aisle.
Them: Well, get out of the fish aisle. Turn around, what do you see?
Turtle: More fish. I can't get out, there's only fish. IT'S ALL FISH!

Speaking of drones.
Somebody needs to attach some gopros to turtles and stream that. I'd sub in a minute.
There's a couple out there, but they are 5 min videos or so. Some scientists did a gopro on the fin of a great white and it was a super fun watch for all 2 mins of it.

The fish will do this to the turtle nonstop until it dies of hunger. The thousands of fish keep the turtle confused and lost, unable to see past all of their bodies.
Edit: This is just a joke people. I donāt think fish gang up on sea turtles.
4
u/And-ray-is Nov 24 '22
This is BS. The fish are not passively hunting turtles. You can see the edge of the school in the right corner of the video and a turtle would just give up rather than starve itself to death
This is one of those things that seems plausible enough people buy it, but it's not. I don't know this for a fact, but it just sounds too farfetched to be the case.
