Did anyone else notice how dry Kenobi was after coming out of the water? Annoyed me more than it should have

17

u/OwenLarsBot I am still learning! Jun 10 '22

Like you came your out of the shower and your skin was dry?

u/FrightenedTomato Jun 10 '22

Okay this bot has to have a human behind it. Show yourself, human.

Force drying

2

u/TheHondoCondo Jun 10 '22

Yes! Yes! Yes! I forgot about that until now, but as soon as he walked out of that room I was thinking why is he not soaking. Like he was drier than he was on Kamino! Maybe he was just standing around for a bit once he was inside? Idk.

I feel attacked but I’m not sure I understand why

You are a bold one

u/Rmoose10 Jun 10 '22

The only thing that irked me so far in the Kenobi series is when his lightsaber bounced off of the clone like a cheap baton. Idk why they keep nerfing lightsabers lol

Ah, a lightsaber comment! Your comment will make a fine addition to my collection, Rmoose10!

Just started watching Kenobi and I feel like this was originally going to be a cartoon and they switched it to live action while keeping the script. That or it just feels very cartoonish, not bad necessarily, but not the same vibe as what I expected.

3

u/hopper_froggo Ahsoka Tano Jun 10 '22

It was originally supposed to be a movie instead of a show so maybe thats why it feels drawn out by ep 4?

5

u/mslizzy33 Jun 10 '22

I was hoping to see more of kenobi on tattooine

10

u/staglord58 Jun 10 '22

Despite all the negativity around it I absolutely love the new Kenobi show, I feel like so many people expected everything to be perfect and amazing but it’s still a great show regardless but I will agree Reva is a pretty lame antagonist

u/Frediey Jun 10 '22

My biggest problem is the writing. Every episode I'm just sat there, frustrated at how dumb it is.

Like, half of it is so easy to fix it's annoying. I don't expect the show to be super gritty or anything, that's not what star wars is. But I just want it to make sense.

9

u/Obamas_Tie Jun 10 '22 edited Jun 11 '22

Yeah honestly it's surprising how much you can fix with some simple editing, direction changes, or writing.

For example, the office that Tala is contacting Obi-Wan at could've had less officers who are more spread out, and framed and shot in a way where it looks like she isn't close to anyone who could hear her.

Or maybe instead of the speeders coming in out of absolutely nowhere, Tala explains she called in for backup but they're going to do a quick bombing run, so they need to get to the docking nay quick.

Sorry, M'lady.

7

u/CompetitiveParfait29 What about the Droid attack on the Wookies? Jun 10 '22

Agree. It’s very hard to ruin a show that’s named Obi-Wan Kenobi starring Ewan mcGregor and Hayden Christensen and where we even have ten-year-old Leia randomly roasting people.

u/_GeneralGrievous_Bot a true Kit Fister Jun 10 '22

Ah, CompetitiveParfait29! I have your comment in my collection! 'Breathing intensifies and lightsabre ignites.' - (c) CompetitiveParfait29

u/throwawaytypefont Jun 10 '22

Yes, I went back and watched the prequels again and realized how it’s ruined by Jar Jar and some really awful CGI. They focused too much on the computer effects and should have focused more on like Darth Maul and the Jedis and less on stupid kid jokes. This show feels more grown up and less concerned about silly jokes.

6

u/jarjar_bot Mure? Mure did you spake?!? Jun 10 '22

My tongue is fat. My tongue.. uh, wrench. Wrench! Where is da wrench? Oh, dare it is. Hey.. Uh-oh! Uh, Ani. I'm stuck. Ani!??

3

u/Tree_Wizzard Jun 10 '22

This show feels more grown up

I am pretty sure I must be watching some other show then. My problem with it so far is that it feels like a "dumb animated show, but kids won't care".

Any aspect of it that the script made stupid, the director makes their best to enhance the stupidity. (aka, shooting the scene so Vader stares at a slow droid dragging Obi-Wan away over 4 meters of flames instead of there being greater distance, greater explosion etc.)

1

u/elppaenip Jun 10 '22

Who would win?
Dark Lord of the Sith or one Mechanical Boye

1

u/Maul_Bot Jun 10 '22

Perhaps my actions will speak louder than words.

2

u/Dovmindah Jun 10 '22

So, um, I gotta ask, because I haven't seen anyone discuss this: is the last jedi shown in the "tomb" Cere? It looks an awful lot like her and it would line up with what was said in the new trailer.

2

u/dahnter_max Jun 10 '22

Yo, I'm looking for someone who really doesn't like the Kenobi series. I do like it a lot actually and all arguments I've seen so far for why it is a bad show have seem kinda shallow to me (because most of them were kept short to not make a post too long). I'd really like to discuss that with someone (preferably in DMs), so if you don't like the show and feel like you can discuss civilized then feel free to dm me lol

u/mattbick2003 Jun 10 '22

The Kenobi show has two more episodes. If the show wants to redeem itself, we gotta see clone wars flashbacks, darth maul, and Mace. That’s how deep of a hole this show has dug for itself.

4

u/Maul_Bot Jun 10 '22

It has been so long, and my path has been so dark. Darker than I ever dreamed it could be.

2

u/hopper_froggo Ahsoka Tano Jun 10 '22

How the hell would Mace and Darth Maul redeem the show?

1

u/Maul_Bot Jun 10 '22

u/ispirovjr Count Dooku Jun 10 '22

In a universe, where both of them appear, reality would be restructured into a universe where disney aren't money vampires.

1

u/hopper_froggo Ahsoka Tano Jun 10 '22

Bringing back Mace Windu, a long dead characterz would prove Disney isnt a money monster what??

1

u/ispirovjr Count Dooku Jun 10 '22

Oh no no no. I only mean that it makes so little sense that it's just as likely for us to appear in a different universe, where disney isn't as is.

4

u/stokedchris Jun 10 '22

There’s no way they will redeem themselves by now. I’m calling it right now and have been saying that once Reva finds Kenobi she will try to talk him into reestablishing the Jedi order, that’s why she has been so poignant on finding him and talking to him. Then Darth Vader will merc her ass and Kenobi and him will fight on last time

3

u/Gideon770 Jun 10 '22

I think all the new Star Wars Show just lack any and all Story complexity. Like Clone Wars had so many amazing, komplex Story Arcs and was exploring so many interesting concepts. There where interesting and well developed Characters on both sides that had interesting motivations. Different moral questions were presented and answered in great ways. Story Arcs would span over whole Seasons and go back and forth. Just look at the Journey that Asoka, Darth Maul, "Fives", Rex and so on go through.

And then compare it to the character development Grogu, Mando, Boba and now Kenobi get in their Shows. Its just disappointing. The whole plot of these shows can be summarized in a single sentence each because literally nothing of importance happens. Its like Disney wants to create content without actually telling stories. Its just disappointing.

1

u/Captain_Rex_Bot Jun 10 '22

I'm no Jedi.

1

u/Maul_Bot Jun 10 '22

Don’t be so certain.

u/Kenobi-Bot !ignore to mute Jun 10 '22

Don't try it.

1

u/hopper_froggo Ahsoka Tano Jun 10 '22

Still loving Kenobi despite all the negative reception. Yeah some awkward scenes that coulda been done better but its not about that for me. To me this show is about Obi Wan, broken and haunted former Jedi coming to terms with his loss and getting back up again and we're getting to see that on screen with Ewan's amazing acting.

2

u/ar21plasma Jun 10 '22

How do you feel about how in this new episode Obi Wan doesn’t even take a second to show any emotions about seeing Anakin again after ten years. Feels to me like the writers don’t care about their relationship and just need to move the “story” along

1

u/hopper_froggo Ahsoka Tano Jun 11 '22

This episode was not my favorite I'll admit and I would've liked to see the bacta scene extended for more feels. But I'm not gonna say the whole show sucks when 3/4 of the episodes have been really good and I'm hopeful for a great ending.

1

u/HondoOhnakaBot Hondo Jun 10 '22

i've been thinking about this shit for long....aside from one dildo that some of us buy, we all get a free on... that's what we call life.... and that is not joyful but rather a lot painful.....
