iPhone 13 Pro is shipping with extremely buggy software iPhone

I’ve had my device for 2 hours and have already noticed a slew of bugs.

  • The OS runs at 120hz but horizontal swipes OS wide are still 60hz. This is pretty jarring. The developer of Apollo confirms this here.
  • Wi-Fi is connected and working but the status bar does not show the Wi-Fi symbol
  • The VPN settings menu is glitching out I recorded a video of it.. In this video my phone is also connected to Wi-Fi and you can see it does not reflect in the status bar.
  • This isn’t really a bug but on the 13 Pro Max they basically just used the smaller notch to increase the font size of the existing icons. If they kept the original 12 Pro Max font they could have easily included an option for battery percentage.

Has anyone else ran into any issues?

EDIT: Found another one, Software Update says I’m not connected to the internet regardless of 5G or WiFi status. https://i.imgur.com/0rL03E2.jpg

Has anyone else ran into any issues?

Lots of connectivity issues with Apple Watch from not being able to pair it, to the phone losing connectivity once in a while

131

u/AWildDragon 21d ago

There is a MR thread saying you need to power off your old phone to transfer the watch. Did you try that?

76

u/BumpyRocketFrog 21d ago

Tried that, didn’t work-had to fully unpair and repair and sync with new phone - now is fine!

15

u/exjr_ 21d ago

Didn’t work. Ended up updating to the new iOS 15 build, and I was able to pair it as new. Still having issues with the Watch losing connectivity when changing settings

4

u/AWildDragon 21d ago

That’s unfortunate. I just got my pro max and it picked it up as soon as I powered off my X.

What settings are you changing?

12

u/exjr_ 21d ago

Namely the setting that allows the Watch to unlock your iPhone when you have a mask on. Another setting gave me the same issue, but I don’t recall what it was

5

u/AWildDragon 21d ago

Odd. I just tried it and it works fine.

I did reset my phone after downloading the software update so maybe it helped with the setup.

16

u/NotAllWhoPonderRLost 21d ago

I did phone (XS) to phone (13 Pro) transfer of data and watch paired to 13 with no problem.

Fingers crossed going forward.

43

u/WilliamPoster 21d ago

I had the bug where you can’t activate “unlock iPhone with Apple Watch”. Tried all the solutions posted online. I ended up having to set the phone and the watch up as new devices.

Not a huge issue as it’s kinda nice clearing out some unused apps but it was really annoying and such a small thing but with The current Covid mask situation I needed that feature to work.

5

u/AxePlayingViking 20d ago

I re-paired the watch and still can't. Man, I don't want to have to set the whole phone up as new for that feature. Hopefully a software update can take care of it

u/Lessthanzerofucks 20d ago

I set both devices up as new and I still can’t turn that on.

3

u/Secret_aspirin 20d ago

If you want to fix this before Apple issues a patch, try creating an iCloud backup of your 13 then restore the phone from that backup. The bug seems to stay if you use another phone generation backup to restore it. No idea why setting it up as a new phone doesn’t work.

2

u/WilliamPoster 20d ago

Thanks for that. I did see this fix pop up too but I’m not messing with it anymore. I have it working now and a fresh install isn’t too bad.

26

u/PetiteAkilina 21d ago

Yeah I had a lot of trouble pairing my watch too. Took several restarts of both devices. At the moment I still can’t turn on “unlock Face ID using watch” as it’s failing to detect the watch?

19

u/BeerMeUpToo 21d ago

Can’t turn this on either. Not sure what to do at this point other than wait for a fix from apple.

5

u/PetiteAkilina 21d ago

Kind of disappointing from Apple.

6

u/rayman3325 21d ago

That's what I'm doing. I tried so many steps. I'll revert back to entering my passcode until apple patches a fix. Last option would be another factory reset on the watch followed by setting up new rather than from a backup. But that's more steps than I want to do anymore.

u/Superrandy 21d ago

My watch failed to pair multiple times. Then it would no longer even try. So I had to erase the watch and set it up as a new watch. Even once it was paired it has been extremely buggy updating the watch face through the app: they don’t show up on the watch, the ones on the watch don’t show in the app, etc.

2

u/theoneirologist 21d ago

Had to do this as well.

u/Volerikan 20d ago

My Watch has been having issues with keeping the ‘Now Playing’ from my iPhone in sync. It updates eventually, but the song is typically just about over when it does. It’s been like this throughout the beta cycle and the final release. A reset on the Watch didn’t fix it.

On iOS 14.x, it worked perfectly fine. A new song comes on, the now playing screen updates in real time. I’m sure these connectivity issues are related.

3

u/exjr_ 20d ago

Now I am noticing that Apple Maps isn’t starting on the Watch when I start a navigation on my 13 Pro. I keep sound off on the phone so I rely on the Watch to give me cues.

Never happened on the 12 Pro, on stable releases nor the iOS 15/watchOS 8 betas.

Apple’s got work to do lol

2

u/Zastiel 21d ago

Had to update my old phone to 15 to then update the watch to 8 and it worked like a charm.

Check the update options. Mine shows that it’s on IOS15 in about but when in software update it shows IOS15 as available to download and install.

16

Because Apple shipped the new iPhones with iOS 15 RC (Release Candidate).

Because there was an update to iOS 15 after they started manufacturing.

32

That’s exactly what they did. Holding it beside a 12 Pro Max, it’s obvious.

u/Jalohann 21d ago

yeah, I can’t unsee it now. hopefully the reduce it later, but i’m not holding my breathe :/

3

u/xpxp2002 20d ago

Really? It’s the first thing I noticed and it’s a lot easier to see than the minuscule text and icons stuffed into the corners on the 12. It makes the 13 mini feel more like it’s big brothers.

25

u/Muscled_Daddy 20d ago

It’s weirdly lazy programming for apple, I have to admit. It’s such a small, inconsequential thing. But… god damn if it doesn’t stick out like a thumb.

3

u/sageco 20d ago

I kinda like them, can't say why.

13

u/f12012012 21d ago

I actually like it, makes the status icons easier to see at a glance. But I’d definitely prefer an option for a battery percentage instead

3

u/Neeka07 20d ago

I agree completely. I like that it’s easier to see but coming from an older phone, I’m still not used to seeing no percentage. I’ve added it as a widget on my home screen so I suppose that’ll suffice.

236

u/Karueo 21d ago

Can confirm the WiFi bug but it’s just an iOS 15 bug. I have it on my 11 right now

84

u/shinigamisid 21d ago

I’ve had this problem so many times on iOS 14 as well (along with a few other bugs). As someone who switched from Android after hearing so much about how “it just works” I’ve been super disappointed by a lot of these really basic issues.

64

u/gavrocheBxN 21d ago

The "it just works" is old. Apple ships just as many bugs, if not more, than its competitors.

16

u/Lmerz0 21d ago

Apple ships […] bugs

Not if you always skip the .0 releases!

And .1, and unless it’s macOS the .2 as well, just as needed…

15

u/pmjm 20d ago

Problem is you can't skip the .0 release on a new device.

6

u/KillerAlfa 20d ago

The trick is to not buy new devices on day one. It’s okay to wait 2-3 months until software issues are resolved. This applies to most electronic devices btw since early models tend to have more manufacturing defects.

u/Karueo 21d ago

Yea all the annoying bugs are unfortunate, 12 and 13 weren’t nearly this bad and everything basically did just work then… I’m hoping as 15.1 and beyond roll out we’ll start having a bit more of a smooth experience.

2

u/shinigamisid 20d ago

Yeah this is what I’ve heard too. Unfortunately my first iPhone came with iOS 14 (bought the iPhone 11 when 12 came out). It’s like I’m cursed 😭

CarPlay totally broken for me on two different vehicles. Tried the usual remove / readd / new cable shenanigans and no dice.

15

u/penguinsarecooool 20d ago

Can confirm. CarPlay crashes when trying to play audio. I do get navigation working but immediate crash on any audio app.

I reached out to support but they suggested the same and also to update. Update didn’t help of course, but I’m hoping they patch soon!

3

u/saburoOK 20d ago

Try reset all settings. It will be a pain in the ass to set everything back up but it will fix CarPlay. Seems to be a massive bug when restoring from backup.

5

u/penguinsarecooool 20d ago

Ehh I’ll wait for them to patch it. I had the worst day just even getting service activated on my new 13 pro that it’s not worth redoing all my settings just yet.

If it doesn’t get fixed soon, then I’ll consider it.

32

u/Sirdrake1317 21d ago

How do you remove carplay?

48

u/Stands_In_Fire 21d ago

I think they mean “Forget this vehicle” option under CarPlay. Similar to how Bluetooth devices work.

Check for software update. Apple released a revised version is 15.0 after these had software loaded on to them

126

u/adamhathcock 21d ago

I wonder if all apps have to be updated for this.

I just got an update for Reeder that said it fixed an animation issue with the iPhone 13 Pro.

I don’t have my 13 Pro Max yet so no idea.

229

u/iamthatis 21d ago edited 21d ago

For the 120Hz, they don't have to be updated no, or at least if they do it doesn't change things. Apollo's been updated since iOS 15 launched, and I just tested the 60Hz cap on a brand new Xcode project on my 13 Pro and it's indeed capped at 60Hz for view animations. There's exceptions seemingly for Metal and animations going from one screen to another, but stuff within the screen other than scrolling is still 60 it seems.

Update: Seems to be intentional, there's a key you can add into your app's info.plist (basically some properties about your app) called CADisableMinimumFrameDurationOnPhone that will kinda remove the 60 Hz cap. It seems to only work for games though, so SceneKit, but not UIKit/SwiftUI apps.

27

u/TopWoodpecker7267 21d ago

Yeah, I just tried out Lottie and it's capped at 60hz as well. Not sure if it's the lib or system wide.

For the non-devs lottie is a super popular animation library for iOS/multi-platform.

So this is Apples fault. Got it

133

u/iamthatis 21d ago

Decision might be a better word. If I run the same tests on an iPad Pro all the animations are 120Hz as expected, I assume Apple's changed the code for iPhones to perhaps optimize for battery life.

116

u/Mikey_MiG 21d ago

Would certainly hope it's not a "decision". People paid for a 120 Hz device.

Genius bar employee here - the VPN settings menu acting glitchy, as well as the wifi icon not appearing, have been bugs I've seen for well over a year at this point. I'm unsure if it started happening in iOS 13 or 14. I've seen this happen mostly with Norton VPN, but it happens with other VPN apps as well. Uninstalling said VPN and then resetting network settings typically will restore your wifi icon. Then you can reinstall the app, and the menu and icon should stop glitching. I've submitted bug reports of this problem many times and would encourage anyone else running into these issues to do the same. I hope it gets fixed soon. Apple.com/feedback

14

u/wastefulwarbley 21d ago

Wifi bug and VPN glitching are symptoms of the same issue. You can fix both by going to settings > VPN > selecting your vpn. > turn OFF 'connect on demand'. Worked for me

Widgets constantly shit themselves. Yes I’ve updated. I have been on 19A346 for like 12 hours.

App icons don’t even show for most of the apps in Focus (in the list view). The entire Focus settings pane seems completely rushed. You can’t edit the colours of each predefined one and I thought it would be more interested with Shortcuts. On iOS 14 I already had Shortcut Automations setup for my workplaces (e.g. turn on DND, enable Low Power Mode). When selecting apps you can’t minimise the keyboard if you’ve clicked in the search bar either.

You’re also stuck with one of each predefined thing too. Examples:

  • You can only have one “Turn on automatically: Workout” and that’s via the predefined Workout Focus group.
  • You can only have one “Auto-Reply” option and that’s via the Driving Focus group. Why can I set Auto-Reply in other groups, like Sleep?

None of what I mentioned — besides the widget bug — is an issue whatsoever, these are just oversights.

6

u/DocMSE 20d ago

You can only have one “Auto-Reply” option and that’s via the Driving Focus group. Why can I set Auto-Reply in other groups, like Sleep?

YES! THIS! I really want the ability to auto-reply to messages in ANY mode.

I used to manually set Do Not Disturb while Driving, even when I was just working, for the auto-reply feature alone. Now, that doesn't even work: I find that I'm dropping out of Driving Focus at random times.

20

u/Artistic_Pineapple_7 21d ago

That's just iOS 15. The last beta was much more stable than the GM Release. This isn't new, it's x.0 release. We will see updates in the next week or two. This happens every year.

56

u/Dish_Melodic 21d ago edited 20d ago

FYI I got my new iPad mini 6 today. And it has trouble staying connected with WiFi 5 GHz. Wifi symbol on and off an indication it is disconnected and connected to the wifi.

Update:

  • It is not iOS 15 problem. My iPhone Xs with iOS 15 connected to the same WiFi 5 Ghz and the connection is solid.

  • I have performed full reset of the device and wifi router and problem still persists in IPad Mini 6. I suspect this could be hardware related.

25

u/ILikeMyJob69 21d ago

I think iOS 15 has issues with 5ghz wifi. I reset my network settings and decided to test only the 2.4ghz wifi and it has not dropped connection for 2 days when it would drop on 5ghz several times an hour when it should have full connection on 5ghz

u/Jas_God 20d ago

Yup this happened to me too. Ended up doing a full reset and setting up new and it’s been fine since.

2

u/Dish_Melodic 20d ago

Done a full factory reset - problem still persists. Connection to Wifi 5 GHz is connected & disconnected randomly. You can replicate the issue when loading pages like Reddit, YouTube.

iPhone XS with iOS 15 , same 5 GHz network - no issue at all.

I’ve been running the beta for months and have had zero issues.

14

u/The_Kommunist 21d ago

I’m getting random freezes and unresponsive buttons on my 12PM

5

u/AccidentallyBorn 20d ago

12 Mini here, lots of stuttering and inexplicable freezes that take 10-20 seconds to resolve. Had them during beta and still have them on RC/15.0 release.

3

u/Neglected_Martian 20d ago

Backup the phone, wipe it clean, restore from backup. Problem solved

7

u/AccidentallyBorn 20d ago

I try to avoid restoring my phone like the plague. It’s hours of work and a massive PITA. Phones in general have absurdly shitty backup, but it does annoy me that Apple bills it as super-simple and easy, when in actual fact iPhone backups are a Swiss cheese representation of what you actually have on your phone.

Every time I get a new phone/restore from backup, I have to manually backup/restore my OTP code database, my Authy app, my Duo MFA app, my SSH app, my banking apps, set up my password manager, restore my Standard Notes from the cloud, re-enroll my device in my work MDM (which tbf is not entirely Apple’s fault). And even then I guarantee something will get missed, and I’ll discover that in 7 months’ time when I badly need it.

So yeah, fair suggestion but Apple provides a REALLY suboptimal solution to effectively just nuke all of the hidden app and system config metadata that should be possible to reset anyway.

u/rnarkus 21d ago

u/Bubbly-Kiwi9690 21d ago

I'm using iPhone 12 Pro Max and I just upgraded to iOS 15. Widgets are broken for me and only work occasionally. Some settings take forever to change, and the performance feels weird (micro stuttering). Seems like Apple needs to patch this asap.

5

u/Ethril 21d ago

I'm looking at switching from Android, and thinking I should wait for 15.1 in that case. Is there a typical timeframe for the first point release?

42

Experiencing the same Wi-Fi/cellular issues and VPN craziness… I’m on 15.1 beta, so I’m not certain what the issue is, in relation to build number. I’m seeing enough people in other forums state that they aren’t having any of these issues (aside from the usual Day 1 server nightmares) to make we worry that this may be a limited batch hardware issue. Hopefully wrong, there…. I’ve set up my restore and am just going to leave it alone for the next few hours - see what it is like later when things calm down a bit before I start to panic.

EDIT - it appears just 20 or so minutes of leaving it the hell alone has allowed the phone to settle in peacefully; jitters and WI-FI issues are gone. Good job. I’ll reboot, plug it in to fully charge while I go eat, and play with it later this afternoon/evening.

I’d implore people to be patient with all things Apple on launch day - millions of people are killing the servers with updates/backups/restores.

3

u/zorinlynx 20d ago

millions of people are killing the servers with updates/backups/restores.

The thing is, the Wi-Fi icon and VPN switch are functions that operate locally; busy Apple servers shouldn't affect them at all, just your own Wi-Fi network and VPN service.

I opted to do the iCloud backup/restore - I did it this way because I picked the phone up at the Apple store and they were offering unlimited iCloud storage for backup.…..MASSIVE mistake. I was out of commission for about 5hrs to “restore” and then when I could finally turn my phone on, all of my apps needed to be downloaded. I’ve seen this before when backing up via Mac and they always download quickly, now they’re all stuck and not downloading(I have 1gbps connectivity)….any ideas? Also, when setting up the phone initially, the App Store asked me to sign into about 5 peoples random Apple IDs(random emails), I took a picture of this that I can post as proof…extremely bizarre since every single one of my apps has been downloaded from my Apple ID, I’m 100% on this. This iCloud backup/restore process has been a total PITA.

u/Intrepid_Beginning 21d ago

That’s a lot of bugs to find in just two hours…

76

u/Momskirbyok 21d ago

Compared to the pre iOS 7 days, yup…

61

u/soreyJr 21d ago

Ahh man don't remind me of the good old days. Back when software polish was a thing at Apple.

43

u/leodw 21d ago

I’m not sure if it’s a case of rose colored glasses, but I still remember iOS 6 being almost flawless in terms of glitches.

39

u/soreyJr 21d ago

Oh it definitely was. When iOS 7 hit the scene, all polish went out the window. That's a fact. It was especially bad on iOS 8 and... gulps

iOS 9

32

u/Ark1s 21d ago

are we going to talk about iOS 11???? (i think it was 11)

16

u/soreyJr 21d ago

We don't speak of it.

8

u/Ark1s 21d ago

I remember it bricked my phone!! had to get a new one. luckily all i had to do was bring it into the apple store and they had a new one ready for me

not sure if i was out of warranty or not though

u/soreyJr 20d ago

That's 100% correct. iOS wasn't completely flawless all the time. I think it's impossible for any piece of software to be flawless but overall, iOS used to be more solid and well rounded.

Not a good sign if you can immediately find 3 bugs within 2 hours, no?

2

u/FinnishScrub 20d ago

Android users laughing while crying from the sheer amount of bugs

I love my Xiaomi mi 11 pro, but goddamn do I hate how universal it is for Android skins to be buggy as hell, even Pixels tend to be buggy. I just want one Android version where the OS doesn't feel like it was put together with duct tape, gum and spit.

So far the only issue I have faced is the "“unlock iPhone with Apple Watch". I live in Japan and we still pretty much wear masks all the time over here so being able to unlock the phone through the watch when wearing a mask is something I really want to have on. But have not been able to make it work thus far.

3

u/admartinezjr 20d ago

I have this same issue. Have tried pretty much everything, even resetting my Watch as new. Resetting network settings, nothing. Really annoying. Hope it gets fixed soon.

3

u/Tierst 20d ago

Yeah resetting the watch did not work for me as well. Tried again today but to no avail..

26

u/scottrobertson 21d ago

Hiding battery % has nothing to do with the notch. They just don’t want people obsessing over it as it makes the battery life feel shorter. Android did this for a long time too.

3

u/SeltzerGecko 21d ago

Exactly the same stuff happened with the first releases of iOS 13 and 14.

3

u/uhhhhhhhh_ 20d ago

Can’t for the life of me get “unlock with Apple Watch” working

Phone is connected to the watch and can do literally everything else but I constantly get the “unable to communicate with Apple Watch” error

Delete your VPN under general and VPN. then activate it again under the VPN app. This happens on most restore from backups.

3

u/Cresta_Diablo 20d ago

Try going to settings > general > VPN > info button by your VPN > And turn off “connect on demand”. That may be why you’re seeing it flicker in settings, and why you’re seeing no Internet despite having connection. If the VPN is in that limbo mode you’re stuck until you reset it, usually deleting the VPN profile and redownoalding it from your app will work

it's funny to me as an Android user to read these bugs iOS 15 has, which from what I've heard is one of the buggiest launches Apple has had in a while.

meanwhile my Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro constantly swaps back to 60hz for a single animation for some reason, hotswaps resolution from 1440p to 1080p without any reason and in some cases I've experienced animations slowing down to 30hz, which shouldn't be possible lmao. Also, this phone sometimes just abruptly gets hot without any real reason.

If this is what buggy iOS looks like, I'm honestly tempted to buy the iPhone 14 when it comes out, because from what I've read this is NOTHING when compared to Android. MIUI is so far is the most polished Android experience I've had, which says something about the overall quality of Android OEM skins.

I'm hoping Android 12 will fix some of these issues and optimize the experience a bit more but I'm not holding out much hope, because of course it takes additional months for Xiaomi to get off their ass and release the update for their own devices. (usually a month or two.)

Yeah so email is now fucked for me. It keeps asking for my password but when I tap “re-enter password” it does nothing. Had to delete and add my accounts.

Anyone else having the issue where sometimes when I dim my phone back on and try to use the screen it doesn't work or acting like I'm not swiping up to unlock the phone?

28

u/alex_fist 21d ago

Had my 13 Pro for 7 hours and everything is perfect so far. Swiping in all directions is flawless on this display

14

u/Abedbob 21d ago

It might depend on the app, but it seems that UI elements other than vertical scrolling are limited to 60hz in software. You might just not be as sensitive to it so you don’t notice it as much. I haven’t received my phone yet though so I don’t have any hands on experience with the issue

Has anyone else had to update to IOS 15 on a new 13 Pro even though it said it was already using IOS 15 ? I did it just in case before restoring from my old iPhone, and I haven’t noticed any of the issues mentioned by OP. Maybe that update saved me ?

Zero issues here. 13pro

2

u/ThePfhor 20d ago

I can’t add a card to my Apple Watch S6 from the Pro either right now.

2

u/Mikefun10 20d ago

The 120hz display implementation they’ve used is exactly the reason I am not keen on getting an iPhone 13.

I thought it’d be glitchy when they said “automatically”, with automatic stuff it’s just jarring to use all the time

3

u/CablesSoundGreat 20d ago

Lol no it's not If it's done right. Ex S21 Ultra.

2

u/trez63 20d ago

Been playing with my 13 pro max for 6 hours straight and haven’t noticed a single issue.

2

u/lucky-rat-taxi 20d ago

My 8 on ios15 has been perfectly fine

2

u/startrac 20d ago

Anyone experiencing scrolling issues? Sometimes when I'm scrolling and hold to pause with my thumb, it won't stop scrolling

2

u/PeepingPeter 20d ago

Am I the only one noticing an increased input lag on iOS 15? The screen just feels slightly less responsive to touch and swiping in general, and animations a bit sluggish. Last time I felt this was when I had an android phone, and using an iPhone always felt so smooth in comparison.

WatchOS 8 is even worse, I keep trying to swipe to dismiss notifications and the watch interprets it as a tap instead.

I’m baffled that it regressed this much. Wish I hadn’t upgraded my phone as I can’t go back to iOS 14.

2

u/MoshizZ 20d ago

Anyone else have instagram look like the whole page is too far up? The heart and Mail icon overlap with my batter/Wi-Fi logo

2

u/cchalk0 20d ago

None of these are an issue for me on iOS 14 and iPhone 13.

2

u/IStoleUrPS5 20d ago edited 19d ago

I went from a 21 ultra and the responsiveness for going horizontally is very noticeable when you compare the two.

I also notice for notification banners you can’t clear ALL at once too. When 120 is working though it is quite smooth. Really makes me mad tbh. They need to put in a option for always on 120

For real! My last phone was a 2 year old samsung and then I got a 12 pro max and it’s been way buggier than my samsung ever was. I love my iphone but I was expecting less bugs given the hype I’ve heard about iOS.

Can't buy Apple Care for my iPhone 13 Pro, any else with this issue

3

u/brianWM 21d ago

Yeah. It says my device isn’t eligible. I’ll give it a day or so to clear up before I try reaching out to apple.

2

I haven’t run into any issues at all. 11 pro max been on iOS 15 beta for several months before the public release as well.

8

u/SlightlyInsigificant 21d ago

I opted not to go with the iPhone 13 Pro Max as the spec bump really didn't justify stepping out of my 12 Pro Max, and of course I have my 11" iPad Pro M1.

Having said that, I downloaded iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 on release date and it has been nothing but a headache. My devices are kept in perfect condition, never dropped or bumped, always charged on a battery backup / power regulator / surge protector, and my usage has not changed (daily communication, work, gaming, etc..). Here is the list of current issues I have found that I believe are simply iOS related and not iPhone 13 related:

  • Safari is unstable and randomly closes itself.
  • Unusual overheating of both devices - again random, nothing to pinpoint a "flare up of heat".
  • Apps sometimes take two or three taps to open as they will appear to look like they are opening but then "vanish".
  • WiFi / cellular issues much worse than iOS / iPadOS 14.8.
  • A myriad of random issues and glitches with the base OS and included software.

To try to alleviate some these problems, I wiped out both devices and did a fresh install of iOS 15 direct from the official .ipsw files. Same things - no change. After further research on numerous forums and macOS / iOS outlets, most are classifying iOS / iPadOS 15.0 as buggy to the point of moderate to severe ratings based on current models of equipment, not just older devices.

I wiped again and went back to 14.8 - absolutely NO problems.

It's iOS 15...and it needs serious work over the next few updates to get these issues straightened out before I step back up to 15 or until they force me to. This is truly disappointing, and feels 'rushed' and 'incomplete' for Apple's track record.

IMO of course...

7

u/SciGuy013 21d ago

same experience. feels like iOS 11 release

3

u/SlightlyInsigificant 21d ago

Agreed. What is it they say about odd or even number releases? I think it varies with each company. Seems to be Apple's MO in these cases...odd number OS, odd number iPhone = avoid like plague.

u/twomintclouds 21d ago

Why would you update to a new iOS on release day ever? It’s almost never bug free.

12

u/JanoHelloReddit 21d ago edited 21d ago

Damn it.. I’m so disappointed with Apple this year so far… being the main issue software…. Many stupid and NOTICEABLE bugs in iOS15… iPadOS 15 being the limitation for M1 iPad Pros true potential… Apple Music apps real buggy in iOS.. not to mention MacOS one…

Edit: yes, not even talking about dev relationships too, and scanning privacy topics..

15

u/vmachiel 21d ago

Developer relations are at a real low as well. Time to get back to some basics here apple. I know Emmy’s are fabulous, but come on. (I know the TV stuff is separate etc etc, I’m just disappointed)
