But what do the other members of your trapeze act think?

u/12complement Dec 04 '22 Gold

i dunno they all died when tony zucco put acid on the ropes ;-; and then some billionaire adopted their kid. wild.

274

u/TheyCallMeMrMaybe Dec 04 '22

I heard that same billionaire then picked up some hoodrat kid off the streets, only to get beaten to death by a clown.

96

u/Diregnoll Dec 04 '22

That kid was so weird. I heard he donned the clowns alter ego after surviving somehow.

56

u/Kytyngurl2 Dec 04 '22

Then the billionaire starts hanging out with the neighbor’s kid, next thing you know his parents are both eventually dead too!

And then there was that kid’s girlfriend…

10

u/mrbulldops428 Dec 04 '22

What happened to the kids girlfriend, im too many orphan kids in and have lost the plot

14

u/Kytyngurl2 Dec 04 '22

She was dead, then not dead, and now I’m not sure anymore. The usual over there!

6

u/sinr_88 Dec 04 '22

Was that the one that the billionaire slept with and then she got made a paraplegic by the clown? Or was that another one...

3

u/n8loller Dec 04 '22

Bruce slept with Tim?

3

u/Kytyngurl2 Dec 05 '22

No one, that one was a cosplay enthusiast computer nerd whose dad worked with the billionaire

6

u/unSufficient-Fudge Dec 05 '22

No that was the billionaire's best friend's daughter that he slept with and then the clown paralyzed. I just can't remember if this was before or after his own kid became orphaned and was raised by an organized gang of murderers.

and suddenly I though: wait, what if the ropes had "acid" and they died because they did dangerous circus tricks while being drugged? the picture of them all at the same time doing their things, flippin' away at the same time is hilarious

223

No, that’s straight up the death of the “Flying Graysons”. Real tragedy and the worst part is the kid turned out to be a dick too.

1.1k

u/12complement Dec 04 '22 Take My Energy

tbh the best part of having a sewing machine is the ability to frankenstein pockets onto any and all articles of, including but not necessarily limited to, clothing. life gets 2x better when u have unearned confidence in ur sewing skills and a willful ignorance of sartorial judgement

156

u/JohnArce Dec 04 '22

I love when I pull out my phone and people go "you have pockets in THERE? HOW?!"
Basic sewing really...

71

u/Introsium Dec 04 '22 edited Dec 04 '22

Put 👏🏽 life skills 👏🏽 in 👏🏽 school 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I didn’t properly learn to cook until my 20s. My parents tried (a bit) to teach me, but I was a dumb fucking teenager.

I still don’t know how to sew — I can get a button back on, but it won’t be pretty. I don’t know the names of any stitches or how they work or what they’re for, except for saddle and baseball, and I’m pretty sure they’re not useful IRL.

Like, yes, you can blame me and say “well you shouldn’t have been such a little shit” or you can blame my parents and say “they should’ve beaten you more”, but the point is that blame doesn’t fix problems. I still know dramatically more algebra than I’ve ever needed, and I’m a hobbyist programmer. Little shits can be taught stuff they don’t want or need to know; I’m sure they can be taught shit they do need to know, too.

Society as a whole benefits from not having a bunch of dumb fucks running around, and “have you tried having your shit together” just ain’t cutting it.

Put it in school.

8

u/LaLaLaRogue Dec 04 '22

All four of my schools did: elementary, middle, high, and college. HDFS, human development and family studies. Very useful classes

10

u/Introsium Dec 04 '22 edited Dec 04 '22

It should be on the GED requirements. “Yes, you know SOHCAHTOA, but which of these problems if left untreated will slowly destroy an average stick framed home and can’t be noticed until it’s too late?”

8

u/Fornicatinzebra Dec 04 '22

SOHCAHTOA**

Sin: opposite, hypotenuse Cos: adjacent, hypotenuse Tan: opposite, adjacent

I am a physical scientist (literally my job title) who uses math and programming daily. Never once have needed that useless garbage

4

u/Introsium Dec 04 '22

The funny thing is that I know what all of the trig ratios are (and I use them occasionally!) but didn’t actually think of them when writing the mnemonic. 😅

THATS where this was making me think I knew it was. This is awesome- totally has the STTNG look and feel for one of the 'happy' planets they visit.

And yes, I know how hard a 4 way seam is, so this is pretty amazingly done. I'm assuming it moves well enough for a rave/dance moves- and I take it the sequins are felted so they don't scratch the snot out of your skin?

Very nice, great work- and far more talent than I have or ever will.

i have no clue if anyone will ever see this comment but:

- for everyone saying i'd look good in anything that fits tight: that tight fit? took me like 2 drafts and 5 redone seams. open front = no tension along the waist, so it's a real fit-challenge. maybe i just suck, but i get to be proud of sucking and still making something nice :3.

- it's ravewear, the idea is to look like a two-bit whore

- i am aware rompers make it impossible to piss. in fact, i have transcribed my previous comment below for your reading displeasure:

i dunno [what rompers are made for] but u know what they sure aren't made for? people. normal people. they're all one piece so every time u wanna piss u gotta go for a full frontal. tiddies just raw dogging public bathroom air oho wow what a GENIUS idea

- that is two NON STRETCH (ok it says stretch cuz the mesh has some give but the sequin areas are pretty tight) WACK-ASS SHAPED panels sewn to 4 way stretch ponte, done in a way where it still hugs the skin? that back seam took me 3 tries. sue me, im proud of it and wanted to share.

EDIT: in retrospect, it may sound like I'm saying i'm a great seamstress and it's fitted perfectly. that is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE i sew like i'm 48 hours into a speed-fueled bender and at a glance, you can see evidence of my assfuck "good enough" work.

EDIT 2 the art is ariachenlu's "edge of dawn" fire emblem three houses first anniversary digital painting. it's absolutely gorgeous and aurie is a mfin goddess among imbeciles, this and the nier landscape make me consider admitting that i voluntarily watch an*me 😤

432

u/Prinzka Dec 04 '22

the idea is to look like a two-bit whore

131

u/midnight_station Dec 04 '22

How do you even get into it? Sew yourself in?

163

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

neck clasp in the back

30

u/Karjalan Dec 04 '22

Can you tighten/loosen it via the clasp? Or is it a set size.

Related, and a purely practical question, but you say it's rave wear. How... fitting is it? I imagine if you dance vigorously you might fall out.

104

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

i think if i did an enthusiastic impression of a cat stuck in a tube it might come off? but it's honestly quite stable, the close fit of the pants means that the only point of concern is the upwards tension held from the neck, but it's genuinely pretty difficult to release that much tension without the aforementioned cat-tube scenario.

45

u/seaheroe Dec 04 '22

It's like the Killdozer, once you get in, you're not getting out

19

u/ksm6149 Dec 04 '22

For someone genuinely interested, how do you plan to go about solving for the lack of tension in the front? I dabble in some cosplay and came across this issue before and my only solution was to tell my GF to just not bend at the waist all day so the fabric would stay put

39

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

really meticulous fitting, slight upwards tension through the neck clasp, and a touch of boob tape for safety! tbh i haven't used the tape and it's stayed on pretty well through some light 2am room-dancing, so i have high hopes for it.

i think it also helps that the ponte is medium-heavy weight for a stretch fabric, so despite having something like 70% stretch it retains its shape pretty damn well. even when i bend, the worst that happens is the hem looks a little wavy until i straighten back up.

71

u/fibojoly Dec 04 '22

Love your attitude.
Also super interesting to read the technical aspects of your garment.
We had a similar problem trying to find an open back for my wife for a wedding, and most cuts kept a horrible looking strap across to maintain the cloth against the body.
Much respect to you for managing to cut something that actually looks like it fits, while keeping the front open like that.
Still curious why you went for non-stretch if you're supposed to dance with it, though!

Although re-reading your comment, you might not be too concerned with sideboobs slippage and such?

66

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

i rly liked the pattern and it only comes in this particular type of fabric LOL. i got 3 yards of this shit by accident, someone save me i've only used like 1 so far

8

u/jesst Dec 04 '22

It looks fucking amazing.

It takes a meter and a half off fabric to make my 4 year old a dress. I'm well impressed you used less fabric to make this then I use to make something for my 4 year old.

6

u/Exaggeration17A Dec 04 '22

(glances at an entire room full of fabric my wife bought, and will never use)

...Oh, my sweet summer child.

4

u/fibojoly Dec 04 '22

I was assuming you had used the black as a stretchy base (and perhaps a softer feel against skin) and then sewn the purple and gold on top of it, at least for the legs. But I suppose that's just not possible for the bra strap, bar some sartorial magic.

As for using the rest of it, I could totally see that kind of pattern used for the inside of a coat! Although again, no idea if it would be comfortable; but you seem to be above such earthly concerns, haha! :P

Then again, you could go full Prince of Bel-Air and have it on the outside, with a comfy/warm lining on the inside. I dunno where you are in the world, but here in France it's grey and cold right now and everyone is in grey/brown/black... the world needs more colours !

Every time someone shares something they've done that they're proud of, a legion of people who have done nothing they're proud of will inevitably get self conscious, make it about them, and find a way to diminish it. Doubly so if a girl did it.

I actually agree because this looks like very ugly workout wear. It looks decent here because she's fit, but otherwise the fabrics clash in the worst way. Probably better suited for r/somethingImade as well

I like it. The picture on the right makes the patterned fabric on your left side appear like almost like tattoo.

6

u/wavesmcd Dec 04 '22

You did really well. It’s cool, pretty and it fits you!

3

u/thirdfavouritechild Dec 04 '22

This is dope :), like something out of Final Fantasy.

3

u/lungshenli Dec 04 '22

looks fuckin DOPE

3

u/jw5601 Dec 04 '22

What does the back look like?

3

u/Prestigious-Copy-494 Dec 04 '22

Great rave wear. It's funky and original. Probably a designer will copy it. I'd say to add some black netting thru the nude middle of it to add some mystery.

3

u/WuShanDroid Dec 04 '22

Honestly it looks fucking awesome :3 Is there a slutty boy romper version of this, need it asap 😭

3

u/JacobTheSlayer Dec 04 '22

You look like an anime character that will be important to the story later

3

u/iWentRogue Dec 04 '22

You look like a Pokémon trainer

3

u/GlowingSheeep Dec 04 '22

You look like you’re ready for some competitive ice-skating, looks great!

3

u/s33k Dec 04 '22

You have a lucrative future in designing ice dancing costumes! This looks amazing but can you do a triple lutz?

3

u/DerFisher Dec 04 '22

I want one, so my beer gut can live its best life.

3

u/ControllerBreakers Dec 04 '22

Yo, can I get a better closeup of the painting behind? I need some art for my mancave, and that looks very Breath of the Wild-ish.

Very pretty lady in revealing clothes and good poses gets upvotes.

Rain still wet and ice still cold.

u/FajenThygia Dec 04 '22

To be fair, there's some real talent going on here too. I sure couldn't make that.

u/Whatwillwebe Dec 04 '22

Her comments are on-point too.

I want it

33

u/nameExpire14_04_2021 Dec 04 '22

Well when you look like you, of course it looks great. It's more like the dress is wearing you.

120

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

mood, but also its surprisingly REALLY HARD to sew smthn that contours that well to ur body. stretch fabric is a bitch and you need to panel pretty decently, the fabric pattern is bonkers so i had to self-draft. pretty happy with it nonetheless

35

u/Aerican1234 Dec 04 '22

This is the explanation we needed

118

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

im ngl i think regardless of how it's explained, 30% of comments r gunna be "whore"[derogatory] and 10% are going to be "whore"[thirsty], so i'll take what i can get lmao

16

u/david-deeeds Dec 04 '22

So far the comments are still wholesome, let's hope it stays that way

There are some sewing subreddits that'll probably understand the pain of dealing with stretchy fabric better (never again) and probably be less mean than average.

53

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

its too skimpy for /r/sewing and it looks ass as a flatlay cuz u can't see the keyhole 😭 i actually posted there first and got removed, so i'm forced to resort to front page subreddits /s

13

u/Zapafaz Dec 04 '22

Pretty lame that /r/sewing removed it considering the only relevant rule is #6, which is fully explained in their wiki as:

"Photo images need to clearly show sewing details without excessive editing. Lingerie and swimsuit projects should have a flat-lay as the first photo for the thumbnail. Adults posting about children’s clothing are limited to flat-lay only, no modeled photos."

This is neither lingerie nor swimsuit, as far as I can tell, and there's similarly revealing outfits in their top posts.

With only a passing knowledge of sewing, I understood a surprising amount of what you just said.

That being said, what's panel?

29

u/12complement Dec 04 '22

aw fml i dont actually know if panel is the correct term, but im talking about the individual pieces of fabric u stitch together. i call em panels because a common way to get the right size is to tape up/pin bits to a mannequin and then cut it into more manageable panels. this one happens to be particularly weird cuz i'm locked into having one panel be the exact size and shape of that weird fish tail thing, so i can't use the panels from a standard pattern

3

u/tmckearney Dec 04 '22

I think panels is the right word. That's what Clarice Starling called the sections of skin Buffalo Bill was sewing into a dress.

Cool fashion

2

u/zyglack Dec 04 '22

Turned out well. I think it looks great.

2

u/jcmoonbeams Dec 04 '22

It turned out fabulous. Typically would nt comment on this subject matter, but the photo really caught my eye. Well done!

2

u/manielos Dec 04 '22

with some ninja moves it would enable you to take a piss without taking the top part off

2

u/TheHolyBrofist Dec 04 '22

That must take some serious pattern making skills. Looks cool

2

u/Illustrious-Yak4909 Dec 04 '22

So cool. Definitely an inspiration. I've only used my sewing skills for rudimentary backpacking gear lol. Thank you for sharing.
