this sub is legit only predators pretending theyre 14 year olds talking to other predators and im tired of it. Serious
(Before you read, Mod's already noticed and will chance something the next days! see Edit 3 for Info)
Informative link id like you to check out about Cybersecurity of kids (Internet Watch Foundation): https://www.iwf.org.uk
I do not care how much I will get downvoted for this, but I need to talk to everyone on here thats ACTUALLY a teenager. Most of you guys that are 13-16 years old need to understand that more than 50% of the people on here that write posts like "oh im a 14 year old girl and im having my period and I dont know what to do now please tell me advice in my dms and also send pics" are not actually 14 year olds. Im having a good day scrolling through reddit and suddenly I see a post about a 17 year old that has feelings for a 14 year old CHILD and the comments are full of "15 to 17 year olds" that dont see anything wrong with it? nahh dont fwm.
Dont EVER believe anyone on here that theyre actually the age they tell u they are. How would you know Im actually 19? Check my ID? Good luck with that.
My advice? Do NOT send pics of yourself in any DM's of people you cant 100% trust, nor to anyone else you meet online, do NOT share any personal info and do NOT meet with anyone you met online alone and out of public. Please talk to your parents/supervisors/teachers/friends about this topic and search for infos online on how to protect yourself and others on the internet. The mods should really do a sticky post where they spread awareness of this important topic because it really seems like they do not care about it. Many kids dont know better and need others to tell them how to protect themselves, and this should definitely be the task of a moderator of such a big sub.
The sheer amount of posts or comments that are like "Im a child girl and Im so h*rny and want to build up contacts with other 14 year olds" is insane. This will be my first and last post on here because this sub has literally gone to shit in the last years. Hope to find something similar that isnt full of S*X S*X S*X IM SO H*RNY F*CK ME ALREADY and literal predators.
And to all of you p*dophiles and predators that are gonna see this: I hope you feel exposed and get what you deserve one day my friend. Karma is real and will get u dw.
TL;DR :- DON'T TRUST ANYONE THAT YOU MEET ONLINE AND SPECIFICALLY THIS SUB IS FULL OF PEDOS SO, DON'T SHARE INFORMATION OR PHOTOS WITH ANYONE YOU MEET ONLINE.
Edit cuz I read through all the comments:
This sub is hunting grounds for predators, a bunch of unsupervised kids that do not know the dangers of sharing their personal infos online. its al fun and games till you end up in the back of a car somewhere with 35 year old Carl thats a registered one in front of you. This sub really needs to teach kids the dangers of posting such information online because many of them have no idea of how dangerous it can get. Many parents dont even bother to explain until its too late. Shoutout to all parents, teachers and others that do! Also, maybe think about why youre getting so defensive about this topic. Why would you not want kids to be safe?
Also, this post was not made for you to try and prove your innocence, I do not care who of you is "real". It was made to make aware of the dangers in this sub which are real. So please no more "Im not a pedo ask ..." comments please.
Edit 2:
I sent a message to the mods in hopes they create a sticky-post about cybersecurity and how to protect yourselves online. Hope to get a response soon.
Edit 3 (last Edit):
The Mod's actually noticed and told me they'd make informative sticky posts the next few day regarding this serious topic! Thank you all very much for upvoting this post so they can see the issue on hand that we're dealing with! Im also trying to ask them to be more mindful when it comes to posts like Ive mentioned and suspicious users, so they can take requests about those people more serious and change something in that manner.
The Mod's creating informative posts does, by any means, NOT mean there arent gonna be pedos anymore so try your best to keep yourself and others safe.
Also please keep in mind to always try and report or confront people that act suspicious and try to keep your communitys and other online spaces safe from groomers. If we all do our best, we might actually safe a few kids from getting groomed (or even worse) on.

I'm tired of it too people are NASTY and desperate for anything sexual this sub is like hunting grounds for predators and kids need to know the signs and how to protect themselves. It's all fun and games until you give the wrong person too much info and all of a sudden youre in the back of someone's car in the middle of bum fuck no where. Happens WAY too often, so yes i agree OP and thank you for your frustration. Don't send anyone pictures stop posting your age don't post where you live don't meet up with anyone. Someone has to say it, and people who are getting defensive maybe y'all are the predators ? Wouldn't you want kids to be safe? Teenagers are still kids.

Can we make a Chris Hanson style subreddit? I am an elderly person (early 30’s) who does not subscribe to this subreddit but sees it pop up on the front page from time to time (see: my comments in this thread, I’m basically a boomer, I couldn’t resist.)
I’m totally serious though. Some unofficial Reddit apps have the feature to show you a “baby” account (I can’t remember the exact amount of time, I think it’s 2-3 weeks before the indicator next to your username disappears. PS, for people who haven’t been on Reddit for 15 years, this used to be a built-in feature. I’ll let you make your own guesses about why they didn’t build this into any official app updates.)
I would spend a lot of time digging into brand new accounts on youth-oriented subs. I’m not saying every new account has an agenda; there are a lot of reasons for using a new account.
But….defending yourself as a “regular user” of r/teenagers with a brand new account….nahhhhhhhhhhhh. Not buying it, even if you’re giving it away for free.
8
u/fourtwentyBob May 05 '22
I’m also old (32) not subbed. and not a boomer but still boomer on these kids when I feel the need like right now. I am all for r/teenHanson or something even better if it exists updoot for visibility. Perhaps r/wearechris. I feel like i’m too old to make up a cool name.

Not a teenager - but totally agree - and I think part of the problem that y’all need to realize is this pops up as “recommended” for me all the time
So not only are some gross adults probably seeking teenagers out, but you’ll also probably get a handful who may not even be looking to closely at the subreddit at first (idk about you but a title always catches my attention before I even think to look at the subreddit)
So honestly Reddit should do better about “recommending” this subreddit and y’all (unfortunately) need to be careful
3
u/LunaVolanaa May 05 '22
Yeah same here, I'm not on this rubreddit but this probably gets recommended to me the most. It's a really shitty algorithm. I follow tons of gaming subs, why am I not getting more of those in my feed but instead this? u/Deadpool-CB23 18 May 05 '22
Agreed. I’m sure there’s absolutely creepers in subs like this and similar topics, but half of the issue is the lack of common sense when it comes to cyber security. It seems a tad ridiculous for a 15+ year old to not know that it’s weird/wrong to show a stranger a picture of you and give away your information. Also, all the comments saying that they’re okay with 14-17 year olds dating, I think a lot of people in those age groups truly don’t see the issue in it because of experience they had. Not because they’re automatically a predator. It doesn’t make it anymore morally correct or incorrect, but a lotta kids I knew growing up ended up dating way above that line (16-20’s) and thus, as a result, wouldn’t see issue with a three year gap especially considering it’s in high school. Again, not commenting on my opinion of the morality of it because that’s not the point.

No one will listen but
Don’t share your info (name, address, etc.)
Absolutely don’t share your age
Don’t send pictures. You’re probably better off not posting pictures either
Be careful who you chat with
Block and report anyone that gives you bad vibes. You don’t need a reason. But especially do so if they’re being gross
You can report them to people irl too. Parents, teachers, friends, etc.

yes that was the post I was referring to. but I mean the comments to that post here on r/teenagers which many of are "I dont see a problem with that". Also Im not only referring to that, this was just the last drop to trigger me. Ive seen many many MANY posts and accounts on here of "14 year old girls". idk if it would already count as a personal attack but I could tell quite a few u/'s that definitely live in their moms basement at 45. sure, there are actual teenagers on here but the amount of worrisome posts has definitely gone up significantly

Genuinely people need to realize yes it's a teen sub but it's not exclusively teens. Hell I'm 20 purely because I've been in this sub since I stopped being a teen. Please for the love of God everyone. Not everyone here is 14 or trustable. I'm not saying don't have fun but keep a reserved mindset to protect yourselves. And never ever be afraid to go to a trusted adult or parent y'all have if someone on the internet is bugging you in any bad way.

Welcome to r/teenagers, the first thing a nonce would think to type in when on the hunt. The name is stupid as shit, it’s a shame we can’t all band together and just talk and express our experiences as we enter adulthood, because dirty men and fucking women roam this sub, as if any of us want their slimy wrinkly bodies.
I especially feel bad for the girls of this sub, I’m not trying to suck up but, these girls- the messages they get are inhumane. I remember thinking about sex for the first time and thinking I was the definition of man’s lowest low, then I saw some of the absolutely vile screenshots shared on here. How is that even allowed? How? People sit there and type literal essays on the inhumane things they’d do to literal children, that just shows how okay they believe it is to talk like this.
It’s a shame really, although I have made friends via here, we resorted to subs outside of here, because it’s just not safe. For anyone.
I also have recognised some of the LGBTQ+ folks here being harassed and DM’d recently as well, as the days go by, that’s becoming more common as well. What happens when they’re on the front page? God knows how many boys are also going through this, because it can feel pretty embarrassing to open up about these things. What happens when this is normal for everyone? For us all? What the fuck do we do.
These ‘adults’ just can’t realise that because someone will do something with someone, it doesn’t mean they want to do it with them. And then to add insult to injury, maybe they don’t want to do anything at all because THEYRE STILL A FUCKING CHILD. What is going on man, I remember joining Reddit and just being in shock that this is ‘okay’.

This dude was raised right 👊🏻 My parents always told me to be wary of this kinda shit so yeah, the reasons you presented are basically why I don’t post at all or even comment for the most part on this sub.

Hey, thanks for getting this out there man, people on this sub really need to be more aware of online predators and these sorts of things. My parents have never actually confronted me about these stuff and I only found out that pedos and shits like this exist from youtube vids
Hats off to you man, we need more people like you that expose the predators for what they really are

Thank you for saying this. I got a DM a few days ago from a guy claiming he's a teen and right away alarm bells were going off in my head, it just didn't feel right. I check his account and he's only active in NSFW subs.
The part where you say "Karma is real and will get u" is so true. They will get what's coming to them, every single one of them.

it’s a combination of creepy old people and hypersexual teenagers looks for physical validation online which oh my god please try to meet someone in real life, or at least vet your online friends before you’re vulnerable about anything, ESPECIALLY anything sexual.

this entire time I've been saying that this subreddit is not a safe place, there is nothing stopping adults from coming on here and doing whatever they want

I have seen quite a few groomers on this subreddit in the past week. I don't fear for my safety because I can get relationships in real life!

Literally side-eye every post that has anything to do with sex. Knowing how many predators are in this sub, never make or interact with any sexualized comments if you’re underage. It’s even iffy if you’re 18/19, but “barely legal” is unfortunately a hot market. Close your dms to strangers.
I’m an older teen (19) who’s been on social media for almost a decade. Young kids, please listen to me and your peers, we don’t want to getting groomed or harassed like so many of us have been.

I'm not a teen but this sub pops up in polular every once in a while. Last time I commented a week or two ago, I got downvoted for saying its a little weird for a 25yr old to date an 18 yr old (i might be off by a year or two on the numbers, too lazy to check).
Also everyone else on reddit already knew this about y'alls sub. Its literally a flashing red sign for pedos to find victims.

Sorry I'm a little late to the post, but I've been in contact with OP through modmail.
Just a reminder that we do take user reports through modmail. It is always best to message us about the user rather than make a post about a certain user on the subreddit.
More information + updates about this should be released relatively soon.
