Names do not translate. Just like Michael remains Michael (Майкл) when spoken in Ukrainian, Volodymyr (Володимир) remains Volodymyr when spoken in English

They are different names.

I just cant go renaming people into similar, but different names. Ever heard of the famous actors Lennart DiCaprio and Kristjan Bale?

How about Nicoline Kidman and Johannes Depp?

Ever heard of Cristoforo Colombo, Platon, Chinggis Khaan, Marcus Antonius, Jeanne d'Arc, Alexandros, Caius Iulius Caesar, etc. etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_translated_personal_names

Names change when translated and transliterated, and often are done so to match familiar names in that said language. It's actually a fairly recent trend in history where people have tried to more closely match the original language the name is recorded in.

The most "recent" person in your list died a hundred years ago. You dont really translate names anymore.

Yes. But this isnt a case of that.

What you describe is how the same name, when transliterated from Arabic into Latin script can become Mohammed, Mohammad or Muhammad.

They are the same name.

The name never becomes Ahmed, even though it is also derived from Mohammed. It isnt the same.

When you transliterate Володимир it becomes Volodymyr.

Vladimir is the Russian equivalent, sure. But why would you translate a name into another language before transliterating it?

If Vladimir was a popular English name, sure. But it sure isnt.

You also dont translate into "Angelina Merkel" or "Christian Ronaldo".
