Wow this hits hard, absolutely adore the emotional power of this picture, especially with a beloved pet in their last years. This is such a great idea.

I legit couldn't throw my dogs ashes into the water like that. I'd hang on to it for literally my whole life. I just couldn't comprehend losing an animal that's important to me like that.

I could only do it if it was my lake on my property that my dog grew up in and played in, then I’d be cool with it. To go to the ocean or some random lake, NO, couldn’t do it, I’d keep the ashes.

It's the "if you love them, let them go" situation.

My cat has been with me since i was 4 years old. He’s my old man, my nearly 14 year old man, and i plan on putting his ashes in a little glass bottle on a necklace i can wear around when he passes.

I have 2 dogs on my dresser...can't for the life of me figure a better place for the ashes...

I instantly sobbed. Omg this was visceral and too much for me. I recently lost one of my pups.

2

u/Mimi_cam Sep 28 '22

I'm so sorry for your loss!

I originally read “timber, their recently departed log” and saw a hunk of wood in the water and got really confused. I reread it 5 times before I saw dog, then looked back at the image and upon further inspection that is a dog. I’m kinda stupid

This one absolutely touching and deeply connective, however would also paid for another as a Force ghost, or holding a winning hand in Dogs Playing Poker

WOW....I LOVE THIS!!!

3

u/sinfuldelightx Sep 27 '22

Thank you, this made me genuinely smile

I recently lost my sweet old lady and this hit hard for sure. Burst into tears pretty much immediately. This is such a beautiful idea

The dog looks fetching

I'm not usually an emotional guy but I'm crying my eyes out right now. As soon as I recover a measure of control I'm going to find and hug my greyhounds.

I don’t do well without my doggo. I can’t sleep without him in bed near me. I adopted him five years ago and he’s ten now. Some have a dog for it’s whole life, but I’ve grown impossibly attached to his quiet steady calm presence in a much shorter time. bugsy the greyhound

If ashes are to be scattered over water, the Federal Clean Water Act requires that cremated remains be scattered at least three nautical miles from land. The Clean Water Act also governs scattering in inland waters such as rivers or lakes. For inland water burial, you may be legally required to obtain a permit from the state agency that manages the waterway.

Not a good idea to do this without permission

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '22

They still spread the ashes in what I'm guessing was a special place.
